Free Web guide to scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling and other water sports
WaterplayUSA.com is a free directory where you can find water sports and water related activities around the country. You’ll find two ways to find water sports for a day-trip or vacation.
One way is through lists organized by individual water sports or water related activities. Options include such adventurous water sports: scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing, paddle-boarding, surfing, knee-boarding, parasailing, whitewater, wakeboarding and whitewater rafting. The site also provides company information for boat charter, sailing schools, boat, kayak, and jet rentals and much more. The alternate route has business listings categorized by city and state.
I tested the site by searching for a dive operation in Key West, Florida. I started by clicking on the diving (1084 elections) in water sports list. When a Bing map of the United States appeared, I kept clicking to zoom in on a local level. When I reached Key West, names and contacts for local players diving appeared. Knowing I might decide to go kayaking as well, I clicked kayaking on water sports list and a number of companies that offer kayak rentals showed up.
The second method is to simply put a state and city or postcode in the box at the top of the page. I sat down in Denver, Colorado, then clicked on “find water sports. Several dive shops and companies that offer rental kayaks and sales showed up. If you know which region you want to visit, or just want to know what’s close to home, this is the fast track approach.
The lists appear below the map include business name, address and phone number but do not include the website info (if your company has a website). Any business can register for free. If a balloon pops up on the map with a link to its website, the companies paid for a direct link to its website.
If you want to send a copy of this page to a friend, look for the “link” at the bottom of the map. Click it and you get a permalink url that you can email to friends.
